At Friends of Myanmar we are committed to respecting your privacy in the way we collect, keep and use your personal information.

This notice explains why and how we collect personal information about you, and your rights to see this information, have it amended or deleted.

Who are we?

Friends of Myanmar (UK) is a Christian registered charity which supports educational, community and welfare projects in the Tamu area of NW Myanmar. Our registered charity number is 1096018.

 

What type of personal information do we collect?

The information we collect includes your name, postal address, phone number and email address, just so that we can contact you. Your payment card details used for online donations are not passed on to us by our donations service.

 

How do we collect personal information about you?

We collect information which you give when you contact us by phone, email or post.

We collect information from our online donations service whenever you make a donation to us online, if you agree to this being passed on to us at the time.

We collect information when you attend any FoM event.

 

How do we use your personal information?

We may contact you to:

              give you news and information about the work of Friends of Myanmar (UK)

              invite you to support our work by making regular of occasional donations

              invite you to attend fundraising and social events organised by Friends of Myanmar (UK)

              check and update your personal information

              ask for your consent for us to claim Gift Aid on your donations

 

Who has access to your personal information?

Only the Chairman and Secretary have access to your personal information.

We will not pass on your personal information to anyone else except HMRC in order to claim Gift Aid on eligible donations, in accordance with your consent. This involves your name, address and the amount donated.

We will make every effort to keep your personal information secure.

 

Your choices

You can choose:

              whether or not you would like us to contact you.

              how you would like us to contact you

              what sort of information you would like to receive

You can make these choices on the Consent Form obtainable on request, and can withdraw your consent at any time.

 

How you can access and update your personal information?

The accuracy of your personal information is important to us, so we will review this regularly with you.

You have a right to see a copy of the personal information we hold about you, to have it amended, or to have part or all of it deleted from our records. You can do this by contacting the Secretary at the address given above. We will not charge you for this.

 

How long do we keep your personal information?

We will keep your information for three years from the date of our last contact with you. However, if you agreed to us claiming Gift Aid on your donations, these records have to be kept for six years from the date of the most recent claim.
